Yes! You read that right! It’s Paper Anthology’s first Take and Make Saturday, this Saturday, October 3rd, 10-5. What’s a Take and Make? Well, it’s like a Make and Take, in that all of the parts and pieces are ready for you to assemble into an awesome card; but instead of doing that at the store, using shared supplies, you’ll take all the bits and pieces (plus complete instructions, of course) home and finish the card at your leisure. Last week, Paper Anthology held out first virtual crop: Creation Staycation. It was a week long event, with tons of challenges, trivia and Prizes. I’m excited to say, it was a huge success, with over 300 challenge entries! We had such a blast looking through everyone’s gorgeous creation! The current challenge at Shopping out Stash is the dreaded one layer card ( That means everything on your card must be directly stamped, embossed, drawn, coloured etc. directly on your card base…no layers!!) Well, about 4 months ago, I ordered a stamp set from Northwood’s Stamps, specifically to make a birthday card for my husband. His Birthday is tomorrow. I work best under pressure. Super simple: Watercolor paper card base. Image stamped in Gina K Amalgam ink. A soft wash of distress inks, then a light splatter. Sentiment from Cat’s Life Press. voilà – 5 minute card!

This month’s Christmas Card Club card was inspired by the girls over at Jingle Belles.
While their “Hark the Hearald Angels Sing” challenge is over, I was inspired to use a beautiful musical notes background stamp from Impression Obsession. The main image is from Stampendous – colored with copic markers. The card is vintaged up with distress inks and glitzed up with some loose glitter, Nuvo drops and prills from US ArtQuest.

Good morning everyone! I’ve been playing with the Concord and 9th stamp set – Bits and Pieces to get some “Hi, How are you?” cards made for our Cards Pals group when I saw this weeks challenge at Shopping our Stash – SOS 387 : inspired by quilting! Well, this set has some bits and pieces that totally had me feeling quilty, so I pulled together a quick thank you card using distress inks and a great new word die from Hero Arts. A little bit of faux stitching pulls everything together!

Over and over again I hear how hard it is to create a guy card – very challenging,people say, not much stuff out there for masculine cards, they say… So when I saw this weeks challenge at Shopping Our Stash – “Happy Birthday Dude” I really thought about what would make a card personal for my husband. We live in a lake house with wood virtually everywhere – wood paneling, wood floors, wood burning stove, 7 cords of wood stacked outside, you get the idea. So, I knew wood had to be featured, and anyways, I really wanted to try the new Tim Holtz wood planks die and 3D embossing folder. Now, my husband has this old flannel shirt that he wears ALL THE TIME, I mean he really loves this shirt (and I love plaid and green) so I decided to recreate the look for a background panel. First I stamped the Altenew Buffalo check background stamp on moss green paper with Bluebird Archival ink, then I used one of the lines from the MFT Plaid Builder stamp set and alternated Prickly Pear and Peat Moss archival inks in between the Buffalo check..a touch of vintage photo distress ink to soften the edges and viola – an old plaid shirt. The letters are die cut from Tim Holtz’ metallic kraft stock with the Sizzix Alphanumeric dies – 3/4″, then sanded roughly and inked with more vintage photo. This was one of those rare times when the card ended up looking exactly like I saw it in my mind!
