It’s a Big BLOOMIN’ Sale (With a Twist!)

We call it Flower Frenzy and you can take 25% OFF any product in the store which features at least ONE FLOWER! So what does that cover? Flower stamp sets like Altenew, Penny Black and Pinkfresh? (Of course!) What about a cute Lawn Fawn set that has ten mice and one flower? (Still counts!) Patterned paper with flowers? (Uh-huh!) Flower dies and stencils? (Certainly!) Paper flowers? (Obviously!) Aha, but what about Inks, paints and embossing powders though, it can’t cover those, right? Yes, it can…If they have a flower name like Tattered Rose Distress or Rosey Posey Archival (Hint: MANY of the Wendy Vecchi inks have flower names and lots come in both Dye and Archival formulas!) What about leafy stamps and dies? Ok no, those would not count, ’cause it’s a Flower Frenzy, not a Foliage Frenzy. Basically, if it LOOKS flowery or it SOUNDS flowery, it’s 25% off! There are waaaaaaaay too many items to mention as examples, so you should probably just stop by and see how many you can find!

The fine print: Sale starts Thursday evening at 5pm (4/20) and runs through Saturday evening (4/22) at 5pm and applies to in-stock, in-store purchases only; clearance items are excluded. No loyalty card punches will be given on sale-priced items. Paper Anthology cannot provide allergy medication for flower-related allergies, but we do have tissues. Hope to see you at the sale!

Holiday Jumpstart: Warm Winter Wishes

February’s Holiday Jumpstart Card Kit is now available at Paper Anthology!

We ALL love the idea of making our holiday cards during the year, but sometimes, it’s difficult to be inspired during the “off-season”, isn’t it? Paper Anthology’s Christmas Card Club is a wonderful solution, but it fills up quickly, and what if you can’t make it to the store one Friday night per month? Here’s a brand new alternative (because Christmas Card Club WILL be back in early March!) that works entirely on your schedule.

It’s a pre-packaged kit we’ve called Holiday Jumpstart (cute name, right?) that includes everything you need (except adhesive) to complete FIVE copies of a brand new original holiday card design. This month’s edition is called “Warm Winter Wishes” because of that pretty sentiment from Taylored Expressions; and also features textured panels made with Sunny Studio’s Cable Knit Embossing Folder and some softly shimmering snowflakes courtesy of Impression Obsession’s Primative Snowflakes die set.

In the kit, you’ll get:

  • Five grocer’s kraft A2 card bases;
  • Five deep blue Kraft-Core panels embossed with Sunny Studio’s Cable Knit Embossing Folder
  • Five pre-stamped sentiment strips;
  • Five large and five medium Ivory Shimmer snowflake diecuts;
  • Enough gold and white baker’s twine to surround five sentiment strips;
  • Ten tiny brass brads;
  • Sandpaper for distressing;
  • Complete directions, product details and full color photos.

These kits are now available in-store (and YES, they are THERE right now!) and online at Paper Anthology. If YOU could use like a Holiday Jumpstart, we hope you’ll check them out.

What Can You Do With Collage Packs?

The short answer to the question, “What can you do with found and vintage paper?” is, use it EXACTLY the same way you use commercial patterned paper… just maybe handle it a tiny bit more carefully, but more on that in a minute. Paper Anthology currently has eight themed varieties of Deluxe Collage Assortments from Just Enough Stuff: Christmas, Sheet Music, Nature, Foreign Text, World Traveler, Crafty Lady, Text & Pattern, and Architecture. Each contains a curated mix of 20+ different sheets, and each is, of course unique. They’re listed in the online store under Stamping Surfaces and Specialty Papers; and each link has a photo which gives an idea of the sorts of items included, as well as an additional inspiration project. In the brick-and-mortar shop, they’re in the front room near the Dina Wakley Media.

Vintage and found papers are wonderful in collage, but “collage” can be used in all the crafty projects that you currently enjoy making: cards, ATC’s, art journal pages, junk journals and more.

Use just a little sheet music as a background with modern journal cards, washi and embellishments in a holiday card; or go all out and use LOTS of different text papers to cover all the surfaces of a larger wood or papier mache item.

The “handle with care” factor is lower than you may think, and mostly applies to being cautious with adhesives and inks; you will always want to test them on a corner of your paper. And while using a tape runner directly on vintage paper is never going to end well, there are great alternatives, like Scotch Gluestick, Distress Collage Medium and Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

If you need to make your vintage paper sturdier, apply the adhesive of your choice all over plain white cardstock, then carefully add the more fragile piece on top, taking care to avoid bubbles and wrinkles. Once your vintage paper is “backed” it’s sturdy enough to diecut, layer, stamp and stencil upon, or do pretty much anything else you’d do with cardstock!
