Holiday Jumpstart: Joy and Holly Edition

It’s time for the April Edition of Paper Anthology’s Holiday Jumpstart Card Kit, featuring a classic red and green color palette and beautiful diecuts from Penny Black. This kit is now available in limited quantities at Paper Anthology, click this link to purchase online (locals remember to choose “pick up in store” to avoid shipping charges) or stop by the store to see it in person!

We ALL love the idea of making our holiday cards during the year, right? But honestly, it can be difficult to be inspired during the “off-season”. Paper Anthology’s Christmas Card Club is a wonderful solution, but it fills up quickly, and what if you can’t make it to the store one Friday night per month? Here’s an additional option that works entirely on your schedule.

It’s a pre-packaged kit we’ve called Holiday Jumpstart (cute name, right?) that includes everything you need (except ink and adhesives) to complete FIVE copies of a brand new original holiday card design. This month’s edition is called “Joy and Holly” since it features diecuts made with Penny Black’s Joy Edger and Holly Days die sets.

This kit contains:

  • Five kraft A2 card bases;
  • Five 4 x 5.25″ Pine Forest cardstock panels;
  • Five pre-cut “Joy” edged patterned paper panels;
  • Five pre-cut “Joy” sentiments;
  • Five holly branches;
  • Fifteen glittery red holly berry clusters

These kits are now available for $25 in-store and online at Paper Anthology. If YOU could use like a Holiday Jumpstart, we hope you’ll check them out.

Paper Anthology’s Christmas Card Club is a wonderful solution, but it fills up quickly, and what if you can’t make it to the store one Friday night per month? Christmas Card Club is BACK!

The next Paper Anthology Christmas Card Club meeting will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 5-9pm. We’ll be making this adorably ornament-al card featuring Sunny Studio stamps on a background of evergreens with a gorgeous gold-embossed sentiment and the perfect touch of plaid.

If you’re new to Paper Anthology’s Christmas Card Club, you should know that it’s our solution to the prospect of making ALL of our holiday cards in December. Instead, we start early in the year, and, at each meeting, we debut a brand new original Christmas card design. We pull together all the paper, embellishments and supplies you’ll need to make five cards of that design; all you have to do is show up and assemble them. This is a fun way to enjoy a crafty night out and get a jump on holiday card production! The cost is $25, dinner is included and new members are always welcome! There’s no need to commit to every meeting, we take individual, first-come-first-served sign-ups for each meeting. But… the session always fills up FAST! So be sure to reserve your place quickly by emailing elisabeth@paperanthology.com.

Please note that while the meetings start at 5pm, you do not have to arrive by 5 – you should be able to complete all five cards, even if you can’t arrive until later. Please bring your basic kit and a little bit of holiday spirit!

Holiday Jumpstart: Warm Winter Wishes

February’s Holiday Jumpstart Card Kit is now available at Paper Anthology!

We ALL love the idea of making our holiday cards during the year, but sometimes, it’s difficult to be inspired during the “off-season”, isn’t it? Paper Anthology’s Christmas Card Club is a wonderful solution, but it fills up quickly, and what if you can’t make it to the store one Friday night per month? Here’s a brand new alternative (because Christmas Card Club WILL be back in early March!) that works entirely on your schedule.

It’s a pre-packaged kit we’ve called Holiday Jumpstart (cute name, right?) that includes everything you need (except adhesive) to complete FIVE copies of a brand new original holiday card design. This month’s edition is called “Warm Winter Wishes” because of that pretty sentiment from Taylored Expressions; and also features textured panels made with Sunny Studio’s Cable Knit Embossing Folder and some softly shimmering snowflakes courtesy of Impression Obsession’s Primative Snowflakes die set.

In the kit, you’ll get:

  • Five grocer’s kraft A2 card bases;
  • Five deep blue Kraft-Core panels embossed with Sunny Studio’s Cable Knit Embossing Folder
  • Five pre-stamped sentiment strips;
  • Five large and five medium Ivory Shimmer snowflake diecuts;
  • Enough gold and white baker’s twine to surround five sentiment strips;
  • Ten tiny brass brads;
  • Sandpaper for distressing;
  • Complete directions, product details and full color photos.

These kits are now available in-store (and YES, they are THERE right now!) and online at Paper Anthology. If YOU could use like a Holiday Jumpstart, we hope you’ll check them out.

Holiday Jumpstart: Jingle All the Way Card Kit

Do you love the idea of making your holiday cards during the year but find it hard to get started off-season? Paper Anthology’s Christmas Card Club is a great solution, but it fills up quickly, and what if you can’t make it to the store one Friday night per month? Here’s a brand new alternative (because Christmas Card Club WILL be back in February!) that runs 100% on your schedule.

It’s a pre-packaged kit we’ve called Holiday Jumpstart (cute name, right?) that includes everything you need (except ink and adhesive) to complete FIVE copies of a brand new original holiday card design. This month’s edition is called “Jingle All the Way” because it’s built around Creative Expressions’ die of the same name. To illustrate, Lauren made five sample cards using five different colorways, and she’s included the recipes for those in the kit, but you can make them all the same OR rock your own favorite shades. For that matter, this design will work with ANY combination of blendable dye or hybrid inks you love; it could even be made using a single shade of ink or watercolor.

In the kit, you’ll get:

  • Five white A2 tent-fold card bases;
  • Five white panels embossed with the Taylored Expressions Sheet Music Embossing Folder
  • Five plain white ovals of nice sturdy cardstock to create your own ink-blended goodness;
  • Five silver metallic cardstock “Jingle All the Way” diecuts;
  • Enough white seam binding to create five bows;
  • Complete directions, product details and full color photos.

These kits are now available in-store and online at Paper Anthology. If YOU could use like a Holiday Jumpstart, we hope you’ll check them out.

I did a card challenge!!!

I used to LOVE doing online card challenges, absolutely loved being, well, challenged to create out of my comfort zone.  Color challenges, sketch challenges – you name it, I did it!  Well it’s been years since I’ve done one (at least 7 years!) and I decided it was time to carve out some time and get challenged!  This week I decided to join the Tic Tac Toe challenge at Shopping Our Stash.    (SOS380)

Choose a line, horizontal, perpendicular or diagonal and use all the elements in your card.  I chose straight down the middle – stamps (of course), stash more than 5 years old and Happy Birthday.  Here’s my card:

For the stamps, I used a lovely set from Concord and 9th called “Just Because” and a sentiment from Cats Life Press.

As to the “stash older than 5 years” part, I used a piece of patterned paper from Rouge De’ Garance from 2006.  I stamped the flowers and background block with some original distress inks that I have had for at least a dozen years – antique linen, tattered rose and worn lipstick.  (although they’ve been re-inked many, many times since then…)

The birthday wishes sentiment, leaves and branches were stamped with Archival ink.

Thanks for stopping by!
