Make and Take Sunday!

This month’s Make and Take features a gorgeous Penny Black image and Studio 490 sentiment.  A simple card made by applying Tombow markers direct to the stamp.  A spritz of water and voila,  a beautiful, soft, watercolor floral.  You can’t tell in the photo, but the flowers shimmer and sparkle with a light touch of stickles;

Christmas Swap

Every year we do a Christmas card swap at Paper Anthology and I’m always in awe at the beautiful designs everyone comes up with.  For those of you that haven’t submitted your cards yet for this year, please get them to the store as soon as possible so I can get all the cards out to everyone.  Once they’re all in, I’ll choose 3 to spotlight here on the blog.    I haven’t joined the fun for several years as November is a very busy time of the year at the store, but this year I vowed to carve out some time!   I may have mentioned once or twice how much I loved Taylored Expressions’ Holiday release this year- honestly every single thing was fantastic – so I decided to feature a few things from them on my swap card:

I die cut the Taylored Expressions moose from Altenew’s wood paper ( this is super cool ultra thin real wood that die cuts like a dream)  The background is stamped with Taylored Expressions Buffalo check background stamp.  The sentiment is from Stampers Anonymous “Christmastime” set (adore these sentiments!)  The blanket stitch die cut is from Waffle Flower and the smaller die cut is from Sizzix, stitched rectangles.  The tiny twine bow just added the perfect touch!

Thanks for stopping by  – I’d appreciate it if you’d leave a comment, I LOVE to see who’s visited!

Got Washi?

This week’s challenge at Shopping our stash is “Washi, Washi, Washi!  While I don’t have a stash quite like Lauren’s, I was able to pull together a nice collection for this nature inspired, fall hued card.  While Washi tape is the focal point here, I couldn’t resist a bit of stamping.  I used The Concord and 9th set-Just Because and added a tree ring stamp from the Honey Bee stamp set – Hello Gorgeous!  Inks used are Archival ink (potting soil, of course)  and Wendy Vecchi blendable dye inks -stamped and watercolored. (orange blossom, sunflower, acorn and fern green).  Be proud of me – I’ve kept that cactus alive for almost a month now!

Thanks for stopping by!

I did a card challenge!!!

I used to LOVE doing online card challenges, absolutely loved being, well, challenged to create out of my comfort zone.  Color challenges, sketch challenges – you name it, I did it!  Well it’s been years since I’ve done one (at least 7 years!) and I decided it was time to carve out some time and get challenged!  This week I decided to join the Tic Tac Toe challenge at Shopping Our Stash.    (SOS380)

Choose a line, horizontal, perpendicular or diagonal and use all the elements in your card.  I chose straight down the middle – stamps (of course), stash more than 5 years old and Happy Birthday.  Here’s my card:

For the stamps, I used a lovely set from Concord and 9th called “Just Because” and a sentiment from Cats Life Press.

As to the “stash older than 5 years” part, I used a piece of patterned paper from Rouge De’ Garance from 2006.  I stamped the flowers and background block with some original distress inks that I have had for at least a dozen years – antique linen, tattered rose and worn lipstick.  (although they’ve been re-inked many, many times since then…)

The birthday wishes sentiment, leaves and branches were stamped with Archival ink.

Thanks for stopping by!
