Driving Home for the Holidays

Leave it to Lawn Fawn: not only did they make an adorable set called Car Critters, which features bears who drive; they also configured it to work with the Reveal Wheel system courtesy of a windshield-shaped Reveal Wheel Add-On Die. And then… they made a Christmas Add-On Stamp Set with super-cute reindeer at the wheel!

Lauren used the MISTI to position and stamp all of the images on one layer of card stock. First the car, then the deer, then the antlers. Each element was given a “basecoat” of its lightest color with Tombow Dual Brush Pens, and shading added with colored pencils. There are, of course, coordinating Christmas Car Critter Dies, but in this case the image was fussycut right at the outlines.

Lauren used older dies, punches and patterned paper to make a landscape, but there are lots of options for making a scene, like Dare 2B Artzy’s Curve Slimline Border Dies which has several styles of hills, plus clouds and more; Sunny Studios’ Comic Strip Everyday Die Set, Taylored Expressions’ Grassy Hills or Hero Arts’ Winter Pines. Or pair up with other Lawn Fawn sets, such as All the Clouds, Snow Globe Scenes, Meadow Backdrop. Alternatively, you could choose the low-maintenance option of landscape-inspired pattered paper like Dare 2B Artzy’s Snow Much Fun or Ciao Bella’s Northern Lights.

Graphic 45 “Christmas Time” Accordion Album

The newest Paper Anthology Class in a Kit is this stunning– but surprisingly easy to make– accordion album; featuring papers and embellishments from Graphic 45’s beautiful new holiday paper collection, “Christmas Time”. As always, the kit contains detailed written instructions; as well as all of the materials you’ll need… except adhesive and a trimmer! In fact, since it contains full sheets of all the papers, you’ll have leftovers to use on cards or other projects.

This lovely album also doubles as a piece of holiday decor. When open, the accordion design lets it stand by itself and look stunning on your mantle. When closed with its red ribbon tie, it would make a pretty accent on a table or bookshelf. Add your own holiday photos, or leave it as is!

This album would make a fabulous gift… IF you can stand to part with it? Luckily, the entire Christmas Time Paper Collection is also available as single sheets, and in an 8×8″ Paper Pad. There are coordinating Ephemera and Journal Cards, as well. There’s plenty of black chipboard in the store, too, so you can make additional copies!

Xmas in July Challenge

We’re playing online this week with a weekend long crop at the Paper Anthology Facebook page – come and join us! One of the challenges was to create a Christmas in July card, so I decided to ink up this Dare 2b Artzy stamp that I have been dying to play with. Black embossed, fussy cut, with a few extra petals added for dimension. I added a sentiment with an Impression Obsession die and some gems from Studio Katia. Turns out it’s perfect for the current challenge over at Shopping our Stash as well!

New Christmas Card Club Kit!

I’ve been having fun with a beautiful wreath die set from Pink Fresh studios. Playing with metallic cardstock, glitter paper, mirror card and Plaid, which is a huge favorite of mine, especially for Holiday cards! The Christmas Card Club In A Kit II comes with the wreath die set and kits for 2 of each card, to make a total of 4 cards. This is an easily reproduced design using your favorite patterned paper, and since you get the wreath die, you can make as many as you want! The wreath can also easily be turned into a spring wreath…the die set even comes with little flowers that you can use instead of berries!

My Favorite Snowman!

This month for Christmas Card Club I turned to an old favorite – an adorable snowman image from Serendipity Stamps (now owned by Impression Obsession)  I paired him up with a beautiful embossing folder from Taylored Expressions and a glitter paper bow using a Sizzix die.  He’s colored in with Polychromos pencils and adorned with loose glitter, stickles and glossy accents – I love this happy fellow!  This card is perfect for the current challenge at Jingle Belles   – Baby it’s Cold Outside; cards featuring things you wear when it’s cold outside …

August CCC!

Still 11 days left before this month’s Christmas Card Club and I already have the card designed!    This month I channeled all my favorite things – wood, plaid, gingham and a rustic cabin feel.  I used Stampers Anonymous “Festive Overlays” set  (another favorite thing) for the main image and sentiment. (die cut with Taylored Expressions awesome stitched and scallop sets).   The plaid is a Studio 490 background stamp and the woodgrain is a Sizzix 3D embossing folder.  My all time favorite May Arts ribbon, some die cuts from Penny Blackj and Elizabeth Crafts, along with a sprinkling of star sequins from Buttons Galore finish it off (not to mention a bunch of distress ink)!

Christmas in July!

Christmas in July is the new challenge at Shopping our Stash!   Just perfect for me…I had to come up with a card quick for this month’s Christmas Card Club.  I really wanted to play with the new Hero Arts set that came in from the ShopBox as I’ve been all about Scandinavian prints lately, and I really wanted to break out some embossing powders.  I embraced my love of green and came up with this:

Background stamp is from Studio 490, inks are from Catherine Pooler and embossing powders are from Ranger.   A touch of Antique linen and Tea dye to grunge it up and finish it off!

Thanks for stopping by!

An Old-Fashioned Christmas

This week at Jingle Belles they’ve asked us to go vintage.  (Yay!!!)   I stamped the plaid flannel background stamp from Studio 490 with Peat Moss Archival Ink from Ranger.   I sticky embossed the beautiful retro-font sentiment from Stampers Anonymous Christmas time set (CMS352) and added loose red glitter. (the sparkle in real life is to die for!)   The Santa is from the Festive overlay set (CMS357), stamped with black archival and a little color added with Tombow markers.  The scalloped and stitched dies are from Taylored Expressions.  A super simple, quick card that lets that beautiful sentiment be the star of the show!
