January’s Card Contest winner is Melinda Marquis with this darling card! She used a “Pure Innocence” stamp from My Favorite Things…How cute is she!?
Hi everyone, thought I’d share some of the Valentine’s day projects I have been working on. These three boxes were made using accucut dies that are available for use in the store: A box with a window in the lid. (several designs are available for the window cut out) A card box that I am imagining filled with conversation hearts and a little box shaped like a candy. I used a stamp from Printworks, ( we just got a shipment of adorable sentiment stamps!) paper from My Mind’s Eye and Pinecone Press (we’ve got a great selection of valentine’s Day papers!) and a Viva Decor Pearl pen that we just got in stock. (you’re gonna love these!)
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi all just a quick post to share a couple more tags Michelle and I worked on during last week’s crop. Both tags have a lot of texture on the backgrounds that was hard to capture with the camera. We used the same focal image:
My background was stamped and then heat embossed with 2 coats of clear embossing powder, with a layer of distress ink between the two coats. I added some white vintage glass glitter for some snowy effects.
Michelle stamped her background and then dry embossed it for a letterpress look – super cool effect! (sorry for the fuzzy picture – I took this from a text message)
The new class schedule will be posted after the holidays. To close, I thought I’d post a sneak peek of one of the upcoming classes. Our scorpal class will feature two storage boxes. This one has a drawer that pulls out and is sized to fit A2 cards perfectly!
I’m on a roll, another tag completed and hanging on the tree. I had to improvise a bit with this one as I didn’t have the resist papers that Tim used for his background, so I stamped directly on a craft paper tag, then clear embossed a sentiment before applying the picket fence stain. I used a memory box die for the deer. (it comes with three deer, but I had to cut one off to fit the tag) For the wreath I cut the tip off a branch of the tree, then trimmed the needles down. Some crumpled and distressed seam binding finishes it off.
Once again Tim Holtz is sharing his 12 tags of Christmas with us. It’s in it’s 5 th year and as always, promises to be full of inspiration! Each year I play along with at least a few of the tags, switching it up a bit to accommodate my stash of supplies. Here’s my take on the first tag:
Smash books have arrived at Paper Anthology, and I have to admit, before they came in I wasn’t altogether sold on the idea but now that I’ve had a chance to look at them up close and personal I am in love! Such a fun line of accessories to fill these beautiful journal books with the stuff of our lives – the little things we collect along the way to building a memory.
Inside the green one (my favorite of course!) I found a quote that summed it all up for me – why I scrapbook and it’s importance to me. I thought I’d share it here:
The truth is that it’s not really about this stuff at all.
It’s about the evidence of living, the proof that I was here.
Thought some thoughts, lived some life.
These bits are simply meant to jog the memory into remembering –
And remembering is perhaps the best way to recycle.
Remember to stop by next Saturday, December 10, for the Hero Arts Catalog preview!
