Holiday Jumpstart: Festive Fir Shaker Cards (Die Included!)

October’s Holiday Jumpstart Card Kit is our pre-packaged kit that includes everything you need (except adhesives) to complete FIVE copies of this new original holiday Shaker Card design. It’s called “Festive Fir” since it includes the lovely Taylored Expressions die of the same name. This kit is available in-store and online for $41. Locals, be sure to choose the “PICK UP IN STORE” option at checkout to save on shipping and we’ll keep it behind the counter until you’ve got time to pick it up.

We all adore the IDEA of making holiday cards throughout the year, instead being overloaded in November and December, but it can be difficult to be inspired during the “off-season”. Paper Anthology’s Christmas Card Club is a wonderful solution, but it fills up quickly, and what if you can’t make it to the store one Friday night per month? Here’s a self-paced option that works entirely on your schedule.

This pre-packaged kit features Taylored Expressions’ Festive Fir die, used to create the decorative window which gets filled with Hero Arts Green Ombre sequins to act as the shaker filling. The elegant filigree background panel coordinates beautifully with the streamlined tree, which is backed with sage green non-shed glitter paper for extra sparkle. The kit contains everything you need (except adhesives) to complete five shaker cards, including complete written instructions and a nice big photo for reference.

This kit contains:

  • Taylored Expressions’ Festive Fir die
  • Five Carta Bella green filigree patterned paper panels
  • Five ivory cardstock panels
  • Five sage green glitter paper panels
  • Five acrylic window pieces
  • Enough sheer gold ribbon for five cards
  • Five gold stars and enough gold ornaments for five trees
  • Hero Arts’ Green Ombre sequins
  • Five top-fold ivory A2 cards

A (LITERAL!) Rainbow of Buttons

Got buttons?  Need more?  Paper Anthology’s got you covered! This bright and beautiful 6×6 canvas board project is from a Collins Show class by (who else?) Buttons Galore and features their Shimmerz and Sprinklets as well as LOTS of Buttons and Sequins from their excellent Lilac Lane division! This sort of project could also use Brads, Enamel Dots and Mini Prills; it’s a great way to use up the last few embellishments in any pack; OR… a great excuse to buy more! Fill ANY shape, or cover a box lid or journal; use the whole rainbow, or focus on one favorite color. Don’t forget to grab a great clear-drying adhesive like iCraft Ultra Bond, 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue or Nuvo Deluxe.

Customer Spotlight: Louise Coviello

Nothing is more fun and inspiring than seeing what our friends are making, and the cards that were linked up during Paper Anthology’s 9th Anniversary festivities were full of amazing, clever ideas. We highly recommend scrolling through the challenge posts on the PA FaceBook Page, with an emphasis on the “Comments” sections, which is where the cards are posted. Louise Coviello made some especially lovely cards over the weekend, featuring ideas we definitely want to try! For example, her simple pinecone (above) is stamped crisply, using exactly the right colors; and the sentiment reminds us how impressed we were the first time we saw someone heat emboss in gold. The clear droplets are understated, but add texture and sophistication.

How cool is it that the shaker window makes up the entire front of this card? Louise stamped and embossed those pretty trees right on the acetate window, and used a unique and stunning hand painted background within.

This Christmas card is perfectly simple… and simply perfect! The Mandala/Snowflake image with ombre ink behind it stands out beautifully; a glittery sentiment and a few sequins finish it off nicely.

Another “Aha!” moment: Louise’s wreath images are embossed in WHITE and then watercolored… with a subtle greyish-blue accent that’s very eyecatching. A gold sentiment and glittery red Nuvo Drop berries… yes, please!

August CCC!

Still 11 days left before this month’s Christmas Card Club and I already have the card designed!    This month I channeled all my favorite things – wood, plaid, gingham and a rustic cabin feel.  I used Stampers Anonymous “Festive Overlays” set  (another favorite thing) for the main image and sentiment. (die cut with Taylored Expressions awesome stitched and scallop sets).   The plaid is a Studio 490 background stamp and the woodgrain is a Sizzix 3D embossing folder.  My all time favorite May Arts ribbon, some die cuts from Penny Blackj and Elizabeth Crafts, along with a sprinkling of star sequins from Buttons Galore finish it off (not to mention a bunch of distress ink)!

Thanks for stopping by, leave a comment and let me know what you think!
