Rainbow bright!

Good morning!  I was up late, late late last night doing my favorite thing – playing in my craft room while the TV played quietly in the background.  Well, it was netflix, and not so quiet, but I digress…  What was on my craft table?  A very odd assortment – a rainbow, a jam jar and a vest – the beginnings of a plan for a class I like to call “a random bunch of cards”.  I played with the rainbow first, a quirky stamp set from Concord and 9th.  I ended up with a card that was perfect for this week’s challenge at  Shopping our stash, since it had a sprinkling of hearts on it.  Entirely stamped in an assortment of bright Ranger Archival inks, (carnation red, tiger lily,  yellow chrome, vivid chartreuse, manganese blue and violet)  all I could think of the whole time was Ranger’s new release for creativation – 12 new mini archival inks to match the Distress line of colors, and we won’t have to wait too long as they should be shipping in a couple weeks.  I can’t wait to get my hands on them!!!  Anyways, here’s the card, hope you like it!

Christmas Card Swap!

Ladies your cards are ready to be picked up!  I have to applaud each and every one of you, what gorgeous cards!!!   Sharing three cards that really caught my eye (it was a very tough decision!)

Linda S. created this clean and simple card with a background die from Taylored Expressions and a sentiment die from Impression Obsession – classic and striking!

Gail P. used a Concord and 9th turnabout stamp and the triple step stamping technique.  The mirricard die cut sentiment is the perfect touch!

Shelly D. created a beautiful scene combining Taylored Expressions stamps, a  Penny Black Lamppost die and an Impression Obsession carolers die.  An inky background and sparkly snow sets the scene perfectly!

…and yes, I just HAD to create the Tim Holtz Holiday Hack with the ombre bottle brush trees on the vintage ruler – such a cute decoration and really quick and easy to make!

I did a card challenge!!!

I used to LOVE doing online card challenges, absolutely loved being, well, challenged to create out of my comfort zone.  Color challenges, sketch challenges – you name it, I did it!  Well it’s been years since I’ve done one (at least 7 years!) and I decided it was time to carve out some time and get challenged!  This week I decided to join the Tic Tac Toe challenge at Shopping Our Stash.    (SOS380)

Choose a line, horizontal, perpendicular or diagonal and use all the elements in your card.  I chose straight down the middle – stamps (of course), stash more than 5 years old and Happy Birthday.  Here’s my card:

For the stamps, I used a lovely set from Concord and 9th called “Just Because” and a sentiment from Cats Life Press.

As to the “stash older than 5 years” part, I used a piece of patterned paper from Rouge De’ Garance from 2006.  I stamped the flowers and background block with some original distress inks that I have had for at least a dozen years – antique linen, tattered rose and worn lipstick.  (although they’ve been re-inked many, many times since then…)

The birthday wishes sentiment, leaves and branches were stamped with Archival ink.

Thanks for stopping by!
